This festival is very special among Hindus in India. This festival reestablishes the bonds between brothers and sisters. The sisters tie a colorful thread (Rakhee) around the wrist of the brother. The idea behind this is that the sister request brother to protect her and shower love and affection all through the life. Today even people from other communities like Muslims and Christians also celebrate this festival with their Hindu families
